Chao, Everyone.
Sorry its been so long since our last blog, However we've found the time to write one today.
We left Rainy Titisee on Sunday and drove all the way through Switzerland and on to Lake Garda, we only managed to get lost once, but after driving around Monza several times we made it to our destination.
While in Titisee we made friends with an English couple who were there with their caravan, they suggested a few places they had visited, and we were left with the choice of going to see where Rottweiler breed of dogs originated from- Which is said to be a pretty place with lots of statues of the dogs, OR we could go and see the Worlds "Original" largest Cookoo Clock, Or the "New" worlds largest Cookoo clock. It was a tough decision, but we ended up visiting the "Original" Largest Cookoo Clock, It was very impressive and took us a whole 5 minutes to see the intricate wooden clock movement, and then a further 25 minutes to sit outside it and wait until midday when we could see the Cookoo spring in to action. We took a video of it which ill try adding to the videos section of the sight so you can all share the excitement.
After this we journeyed in to the next town to behold the Current worlds largest Cookoo Clock, but alas there was some sort of parade going on in the town and the road was shut, It was a huge disappointment for the both of us, but as luck would have it, just two minutes drive away and we were at the site of Germanys highest waterfall, Home to some very friendly red and in some cases black squirrels.
We ended our time At Titisee with some nice walks around the lake and some yummy Black Forest Gateaux with The local Cherry Liquor drizzled over it- very strong!!
The drive from Titisee to Garda Took about 6 hours it total, and took us through about a million Swiss tunnels. The landscape in Switzerland was absolutely breathtaking and had both of us wishing that we had planned to stay there rather than just drive through, Perhaps that can be another trip in itself one day! The border crossings from Germany to Switzerland were fun, especially when we pulled up and the large angry looking customs police man with a big machine gun started speaking gibberish at us, and all Kazzie Said to him Was "HUH!!"After they decided that we were just stupid British tourists they took great pride in having a dig that we weren't going to be watching Euro 2008 because were rubbish. Smug Foreign Git!
Our first night at Lake Garda started with a fantastic thunderstorm, which was great as the tent and everything else was still soaking from Titisee, however the next morning was a scorching 30 Degrees, which was more than enough to dry everything and give us mild sunburn and a great excuse to enjoy some Italian ice-cream by the lake, and have a swim in the pool.
The following day we decided to go for a walk and we ended up climbing a small mountain, But even with me in my flip-flops and Kazzie with her white trousers and handbag, we made it to the top. The views were spectacular, and we had a fantastic 360 degree view of the lake and the surrounding fields & olive groves, we could even see birds flying around beneath us.
Yesterday we ventured away from the local area and got the train from Desenzano to Venice, for a day trip. After a two hour train ride we were finally there standing at the Grand Canal that surrounds the city. We wondered the streets taking in all of the old buildings, and seeing if we recognized any of the waterways from any of the James bond films. We were having a lovely day when out of nowhere Kazzie spotted something, a group, a group of Northerner monkeys, wait, not only were they Northern (monkeys) but they had Potteries accents and wait there, there was about 3 bloody Stoke Fans- group of school kids, 3 Stoke fans! God, you come all the way to Italy and you still can't get away from the scum!!
Anyway- its getting to hot to sit here and write this- so I think we are going to go for a dip in the pool. Then start the task of cleaning the bird s*** off our tent and getting the flies out of it before bed time,
We are leaving here a day earlier to Travel to Ancona- start our long journey to Sorrento earlier. Will keep you updated- Until next time- Chao people!
