Hi All,
Well it has been a few days since we last updated our blog. We had an amazing two days out on the water from Airlie Beach.
On Monday we travelled 95kms off shore to the outer reef (Knuckle Reef to be exact). We went with a very slick company, that had everything you could hope for - catering on the 3 hour boat trip out to the dive spot, all gear supplied, glass bottomed boats etc. For G - it was the first snorkelling experience... it was truly a case of "all the gear and NO IDEA!!".. (and filled with fear!). Anyway, she did manage to do it and loved it - although visibility was only about 12m... we were in relatively shallow water. There were numerous tropical fish swimming near the pontoon - which suited G. B on the other hand LOVED every minute of snorkelling - and did some classic underwater manouvres trying to get the best photos with the very under-utilised underwater camera. G took the opportunity to do take a helicopter ride over Heart reef... so the photos you see of that were taken by yours truly!
On Tuesday we did a "3 Island Cruise" to Whitsunday Island (Whitehaven Beach), Daydream Island and Hook Island. The snorkelling off Hook Island was amazing and G managed MUCH better being able to go in off the beach... still she wore every bit of floating device on offer!!! Great experience.
Wednesday was our big "road trip" day - we drove for 12 hrs from Airlie all the way to Noosa. Arriving after 19h00 we battled to find a caravan park that we still accepting overnighters. We managed to find one that was officially closed, but thanks to the loud "clip clopping" of G's shoes / and then some charm we managed to get in and stay the night.
Thursday was a fun day out at Australia Zoo - Crikey!!! What a place! It is a well managed operation, with alot of good displays. The best was the live show at the Crocesium... which really does deserve a visit if you are ever just North of Brisban.
On Friday we met up with Tanya & Ryan at the campervan drop off point ... said goodbye to our van and then drove straight off to our camping trip on North Stradbroke Island. We had a great weekend (joined by Cam & Suz) we swam, 4x4'ed on the beaches (legally!) and ate a good deal of gelati (ice cream).
We are now on the Gold Coast staying with Tan & Ryan. Today we went out in their brand new boat... very very cool! I think the photos speak for themselves.
We won't bore you with all the details of our holiday, as we are aware that some people are working and this could be viewed as one long bragging session.
Hope you are all well - sorry for the delay in uploading - internet access has been a bit sparce. We will attempt to update all the photos over the next few days as Ryan has very kindly given us access to their wi fi.
