We started the morning off a bit later than we expected. Our goal was to tackle the Narrows hike. The "trail" starts with a 1 mile long paved path along the canyon walls. When the pavement ends, you enter the Virgin river for another 4-6 mile hike through 65-70% water.
After about 3/4 of the paved trail Logan was done. Nana was tired and we forgot to take anything but water to help fuel us further. So Jayme bit the bullet and went back to the car and lunch with Logan, Nana and Grandpa. Caston, Ciara and Gary took the plung and began their journey up the river.
Almost immediatly we found ourselves in waist deep water while we navigated the slippery round river rocks. The hike was a long trek of traversing the river to climb over dry rocks and trails.
The views ahead of us and above us were breathtaking. Around every bend was another landscape to admire and explore. As tired as we were, the cold water would refresh us and the mystery of what we would see next fueld our legs to keep going further.
We pushed on until we reached and area know as Wall Street. In this part of the canyon the walls are as close as 15 feet from each other. This was nothing short of spectacular. At this point it was time to turn around and head back. The hike down river was not as hard but we were getting tired. We stopped to have a swim in one of the deeper parts of the river and when we finally reached the paved walkway we stepped out of the river and trudged our way for the last mile back to the tram.
