Day 11 by Brett
Today we headed up to the Skywalk at Mt Tamborine. Didn't see a single tamborine which was a bit strange. Laura drove up so it felt like we were on an amusement park ride. Bonus. The Skywalk was good, but didn't live up to the marketing hype really. Never the less it was a nice change of scenery, and a change is as good as a........oh wait a sec. We stopped and grabbed some lunch, and Laura found yet another hat that suited her. That makes three for the trip so far. It's fine by me as I have a thing for hot women in hats ever since Kelly McGillis in Top Gun. Schwing. After that we headed back to Movieworld coz we could, this time so the big kids could go on the big rides. Lauz and James went on the Scooby Doo rollercoaster, and then James and myself went on. I've decided I don't like going backwards on rollercoasters. It has the same affect on my head as Laura's driving. Next up the Superman ride. We both wanted the other to go first, so we decided it the mature way. My scissors beat her paper. For those unfamiliar with the ride, it goes from 0 - 100 km/h in a couple of seconds and goes straight up in the process. Just as you think you're about to take off in to the ether, you dive straight down towards the ground and so on and so on, going as fast as a speeding bullet of course. Laura walked off the ride her hair looking like the the bad guy on The Incredibles movie. Then my turn. Thankfully they have an option called the parent swap. No, you don't get to have a break while other parents look after your kids. It basically means that when one parent has finished a ride, the other parent can skip the queue and jump on the ride straight away. It was another chance to feel special skipping past everyone with people looking at you with a sense of wonderment. I offered to sign a few signatures, but no takers surprisingly. Luckily the ride finishes close to where it starts, which gives you a chance to go back and collect your stomach. After that, we headed over to the Batwing ride for James and Laura to go on. I give James credit for going on this, as it shoots you straight up in the air, and drops you, and then you bounce around like a yo-yo. Laura's hair looked even weirder after this one. Next I took the kids on the Justice League ride again. Then I went on the Green Lantern ride. This was my fav, the ride has four seats across, and the two outside seats don't have any track below them which makes it interesting. This one spins you upside down has a inverted drop, and even tracks along upside down for a little while. It's a weird sensation when your bum actually leaves the seat. Even weirder when your bum returns to the seat as it has tightened up quite a bit in that short time. It was almost closing time by this stage and as it's tucked away up the back we some how forgot to go back to the Arkham Asylum ride which was a shame. I've been on it before, and I would have enjoyed watching Laura's reaction to that one. I mean that in the nicest possible way. After we left, we headed to Burleigh Heads for tea as their is a huge selection in the area and it was a nice night to be able to take a stroll. After tea, I took the eldest two boys out to the radio control facility I've mentioned earlier, they had a ball watching the slot car racing and all the RC cars. I didn't mind it either. It's worth noting that Laura still hasn't had a decent coffee, and it's gotten to the stage that the boys are even looking out for coffee shops now.
