Phil and Gem's Big Adventure
Hiya everybody, we're in New Zealand!!! We arrived on Saturday and the last few days have been amazing, and thats thanks entirely to the Kehoes! (for those that dont know, the Kehoes are family friends of Gems who emigrated to NZ a few months ago). Steve and Steph met us at the airport and after a mini guided tour of Auckland took us back to their house in Puhoi, what a name! Since that point me and Gem have been treated like royalty. We've been fed, watered and even had our clothes washed which means I no longer smell like a tramp. The view from their house is straight out of Lord of the Rings, and it goes without saying that there are sheep everywhere. Since we've been here the weathers been a bit poo, we've had lots of very english drizzle. Steves promised blazing sunshine for the next few days though! We had a horribly girly day yesterday which involved shopping, chocolate, singing and even a small scale dance show. The girls seemed to enjoy themseleves. Despite having arrived with no plans whatsoever we've pretty much sorted out what we're doing now. The plan is to drive up to the Bay of Islands on Thursday (the Kehoes are lending us their car, we love the Kehoes!!!), spend a couple of days up there then make our way back down towards Auckland. We're then going to make our way down the length of the north island in a campervan. Should be fantastic, just like Max and Paddy. Just to let u know Gems still insisting on going bungee jumping and we've discovered that you can bungee jump off the Auckland Skytower (2nd tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere) which is the tower in the picture at the top of the page, for a bargain price of 30 pounds. Im obviously delighted at the prospect of flinging myself off a stupidly big building and plummeting towards a crowded street. Anyway I'll let u know how we get on with that and if u dont see any more journal entries for a while, you'll know why! Pics to come soon xx
