Right then, journal time! This will be an update with a difference though as for the first time since we left England we haven't done anything particularly exciting, but its actually been quite nice. We're still in the same hostel and despite being in a 6 bed dorm we've had the room to ourselves for the past 6 nights. We think it may have been a reward for having to put up with 3 very noisy, slightly stinky, Japanese rappers for the first few nights. Unfortunately our room was invaded by 4 Germans this morning (not sure invaded is the right term) so we're back to sharing again which is annoying.
Things have moved rapidly on the job front. Gem successfully completed her trial night at the English bar and shes now a professional pint pourer. In addition to this job we both got a job in a beach front bar in a beautiful little suburb called St. Kilda. Unfortunately I stayed true to form and managed to fall out with the chef on my first shift and after 2 shifts we have decided to call it a day, in fact they are expecting us to turn up in about an hour to start an 8 hour shift, ah well! Don't fear though all is not lost as Gem still has her bar job and I am starting work in an Irish pub in the city centre on Tuesday. I'm sure i'll fit right in, the manager told me that 'we don't do cocktails or any of that fancy rubbish, just pints and that', Brilliant!!!
However it must be said that Gem has worked considerably more than me for the past week so I decided that it was only fair that everytime Gem went to work I went out for a few drinks with the lads. Last night after a few drinks I was a bit hot so I took my top off, one of the lads took it off me and hurled it into the air getting it stuck on a shop signpost 20 feet up in the air. After a variety of hopeless attempts we gave up and I resigned myself to an early return home. Fortunately a Korean guy we were out with had 2 t-shirts on (not sure why) and he kindly donated one to me so I spent the rest of the night in a very small t-shirt. When I retold this story to Gem this morning she didn't find it as funny as I did but I've been to check and the t-shirt is still there so there's still hope.
Anyway better go, Gem is off to work shortly and I'm off to the Telstra Dome Stadium to watch Melbourne play Sydney in the Australian Soccer League (Terry Butcher is the Sydney manager!). Bye for now xx
