Thea and Lizzie's travels
Sydney!!! First impressions of Sydney were good, we loved it! Though driving around it in the van was a nightmare!!! Bondi also looked really nice though was full to the brim with posers!! We found a place called Rose bay where we called pulled up and to park without hassle. It was a nice area and had loos!! We settled down for the night, only to be rudely disturbed in the early hours by a group of boys. I (Lizzie) was a wake when a flash light came into the van thinking it was the police I pretended to be asleep! However it soon became apparent that it was not in fact the police but some dirty chaffs trying to break into the van with us in it- the cheek! I tried to make Thea aware of this fact though she was pretty dead to the world so there I lay. Niss did us proud though as she held fast and didn't let them in. So off they went and back to sleep I went - I don't really think Thea had quite realised what had happened until the following morning when she got up and found the front locks b*****ed!! We were unimpressed to say the least!! It also wasn't till afterwards that we thought about how lucky we were, though this didn't stop us staying there until we sold the van! Our first week in Sydney was mainly spent finding our feet, and preparing Niss to be sold! We planned to sell her at the famous 'Kings cross car market' what a fun 7 days that was being stuck in an underground car market!! It was so funny down there; honestly I have never seen so many un-road worthy vehicles being sold!! Though, they were a great crowd down there and our first few days down there were great fun. Every time someone sold a van/car they had to buy a slab of beer, so on a good day you could expect half a dozen free beers! One sat afternoon, it had been a good day for the cars so beer was flowing but had been slow for the vans so out came the vodka- it got to the stage when we were all to pissed to go on a test drives! Though soon after a couple of good characters left and it soon became boring as! We eventually sold the van for 4300 to a bunch of mugs- I do pity them! She wasn't a bad van granted, but in her condition she was not worth 4300! There is no way the group that bought her will get past Brisbane- they had a rather nervous disposition and we don't think that they really understood what they had got themselves into!! BUT we were free!! We and changed our flight yet again and had decide to stay on until the 23rd of Feb. We caught up with Andy in Manley which was great, and had a good night out with him. We also saw the 'team easy' guys and went to Muffs birthday which was top- and we thought we had seen the last of those buckets!! We went on a road trip to Canberra with Michelle (from Thailand) to see Lee, which was so much fun! We had a top night out in Canberra and it was so good to see the girls again. We have already planned our next trip back to Thailand together, for this coming New Year (to family: don't worry we promise we will be home for this Christmas!!) We stayed with Michelle's sister for a few days which was great- it was so nice to be in a house again!
For our last few days in Sydney we stayed in the city centre in a hostel. We had dinner with Isobel and Lizzie from school which was nice. Though the highlight for us was seeing an opera at the Opera house for my birthday it was top, plus when we got out there were random fire works going off on the river- who said I wouldn't get fire works for my birthday as well!! I had a great birthday Thea gave me a top day- she bought me an amazing skirt to go with the beautiful shoes I had bought the previous day and a lovely top! On that topic we did have a serious shopping trip! Thea bought not only one handbag but TWO, and between us we now have a good collection of shoes!! Though I would like to just state that it really is cheap out here and you have to do what you have to do!! Also on my birthday we discovered that Thea had had 3500 pounds spent on her card in India that day! We could not believe it but at least it is being sorted even if it is a massive hassle, the worse thing is that we know exactly who did it! It would seem that when Thea paid for her rug on her card, when it got swiped the details got copied- it makes sense as he first swiped on one machine said it hadn't worked then on another- the thing is he did the same to mine so fingers crossed- though I paid on my credit card and I wish him luck to spending anything on that at the moment seeing as its not paid off! We also went to the Botanic gardens which were lovely and saw the bridge which was cool (grandma: you are right it is not a patch on the Tynne Bridge!!) All in all it has been top in Sydney. Although we have had some great times out here we are def ready to move on and both of us are so excited about NZ!!!! We hope you are all well and everything at home is ok, lots of love Lizzie and Thea xxxxxx
