In 2007 we went to Kalbarri for a couple of weeks during the September/October school holidays with our great friends the Marlows and the Beasons. We rented a holiday house and spent the two weeks playing games, reading, exploring, swimming, fishing, boating (thanks to Uncle Ross for the loan of his tinny) and generally having a good old relaxing time. The gorges both coastal and inland are sensational and even though we were there in a peak time because we were in a house it didn't feel overcrowded like it can in caravan parks. You could go "home" and chill out.
Thoroughly recommend Kalbarri and the coastal loop down to Gregory, Horrocks and into Northampton. It's one of those places you can keep going back to. Also between Kalbarri and Gregory is Wagoe and Lucky Bay, a couple of beaut camping sites that we hope to get to some time soon. Gregory is a nice little town and the caravan park is excellent, a young couple recently purchased it and are in the process of turning it around so the amenities are a bit old but always clean and working. Give them a call and consider staying in Gregory and driving up to see the Kalbarri tourist sites. Gregory only has a very small general store so stock up on food and be wary of the tap water, it's not the best for drinking.

Anyway I'll mention this area again in a later blog..
Highlights of the Kalbarri area on this trip were the gorges and beaches. Having the river mouth so accessible was great for the kids. The Kalbarri Golf Course (Royal Kalbarri if you like:-)) is brilliant with grass greens and well kept. They have very cleverly used the towns waste water to reticulate the course. We didn't really do a lot of fishing but we did get some whiting a black bream and Adam managed to catch a nice sized tailor on one of my little whiting rigs!! He's so arsey that fella! Next time we visit the area I would really like to go to the Murchison Station and camp down at Wagoe and Lucky Bay.
Maybe I will update this blog with that trip...one day :-)
