Had a real chilled day. Mike also rocked back up a day early. Claimed I was gonna leave tomorrow so said bye for the second time. Had a good craic on with the owner, a really old guy who can still be seen doing the books, serving the customers. Maybe he works because he has to, but I preferred to think it was just because he still loves his job. Hope I'm like that when I'm that old. Was funny when he claimed he is the only Buddhist in Sri Lanka not to believe in rebirth.

Went to bed too late the night before so didn't end up getting up for my 5am bus. Woke up to the sound of Paul play fighting with Ravi, the young lad behind the reception/bar. Ravi's a real sound lad as well, only my age, and I spend a of time craicing on to him. Wished Paul happy birthday. Seen Mike again, and it was now getting into a Varkala situation of not being able to leave. Said bye to him for the third time around 3pm, he was off to catch a flight to Australia to start his graft to pay off the house.
On the night there was a party for Paul. I'm not really in with the crew here, non of them are in their 20s and they are all the stereotypical American surfers here for the waves, and not so much backpackers. Without judging books by their covers I knew I had nothing in common with the crowd and made no effort to get to know them. I'd rather just do my own thing and chill, read the odd book and just kick back. It was only Paul, the only Englishman who I considered a good mate. Was in my room when all of a sudden the stone roses came on, followed by "you're twisting my melon, man" from the sean ryder the frontman of the Happy Mondays. You could hear Paul shout "Manchesterrrr!". Was so good to hear this type of music and would be lying if I said I didn't have a little jive in my room lol.

Again didn't managed to leave today as the part kept me up. Read book all day and caught a tan. Downloaded some apps and completed Angry Birds. Turns out today I also missed Sir Ian 'Beefy' Botham and the greatest bowler of all time Muttiah Muralitharan casually walk past my hotel as they complete their walk for charity across SL. My brother had told me was in SL but I didn't bother to research where and when! Gutted! Later on went to the book shop just next door to here which also sells snacks, and as per bought a big block of caramel peanuts for 50p. The people here are really sound and I enjoy craicing on with them. It's a real odd book shop as you can only hire the books. Turns out they also do food and the old lady invited me for some food the next day for 350rs.

Was going to leave today but found out there was some fire walking show and some local 'devil dance' on at some hotel along the road so decided to stick it out for another day. Went to the book shop for some bait but apparently it 'wasn't on tonight'. Went to find the hotel but was getting differening accounts of how far away it was. Constantly seemed to be 'one kilometre'. Hmm, was one kilometre 3 kilometres ago. Came to the end of the 'strip' and didn't want to go any further so decided to just pie it off. Was a bit of a let down but hey hoy. Packed bags, finished Ubik. Once again there was another party but I was DEFINITELY gone tomorrow.
