Managed to make it through the night without being sick and I'm feeling better now my body has had a chance to rest. It's a bit stiff this morning but I make it out to the loo and then over to the food tent and I'm so happy I could cry because there is cereal!! Dry food!! I manage a handful of cornflakes and a slice of dry toast and some tea. They've got some lemon or lime for me again and I dutifully eat it, (cant do me any harm, they know more about it than I do) and I get some more Diamox from Ed. I'm feeling very tired but glad I have managed to keep things down so far...... Lets see what happens when we start to climb. Today were starting off at 3050m and we will be at 4600m by the time we reach the Barafu camp. We cross a river and have some scrambling of about 300 metres, then we have the Karanga velley to cross before we got to camp, so lets get started. Travis isn't feeling too great today. He said he feels like hes got sunstroke. The guide from yesterday is ready to carry my pack and I thank him. I tell him my name, Gina langu Rachel and I find out he is called Winford. We all set out of the Barranco Camp and very soon we are scaling the walls. Its tricky but fun and I'm really enjoying the very different terrain here on this part of the climb. Very quickly though I stumble and am tired. Just not enough enegy in my body so Winford takes my arm again and we go up together. After about three hours there is this amazing plateau where we see some other people and we stop for a rest. We use this as a photo opportunity and take some cracking pictures above the clouds here. After our little rest we continue onto the Karanga Camp for our lunch. Ed and I talk about food, Andys hoping for a massage tent, and I'm wishing there is a KFC at the next camp, Stupid really as its not the best thing to eat when your sick, but for some reason I'm craving it. Finally after help from Winford again I make it into the Karanga camp at 4000m for dinner and I'm so very pleased to manage to keep down the soup and bread. For our main course its chicken and chips.... CHICKEN AND CHIPS!!!! It is bloody KFC! The much better for me right now equivilent anyway! I'm so so happy and I'm keeping it all down so I even go in for a second helping of chips and it really helps me get through the afternoon. That and another dose from Ed of Diamox. The terrain is similar, Lots of steep rocks to climb or decend and concentration needs to be high to not stumble and fall. I'm feeling a lot better, still a bit of headache now and then, but I'm doing ok. Travis is suffering today, though I havent yet seen him throw up. He's definately looking very peaky. I'm weary by late afternoon and the last bit up to Barafu camp is knackering. The rocks are like slate and clatter when you walk on them. Its an uneven tretchourous path to get to the sign in desk and then to the tents. The loo is a big climb to get up to and the food tent is a huge desent to navigate and I stumble and fall a few times getting to both. I will be covered in bruises in a couple of days. Its pretty hellish here to be honest. All the other camps have been a joy in comparison, this one is a particular challenge and just before we make out attempt on the summit too. Great. We have some soup and a light meal before going to our tents to pack up and get everything ready for our attempt on the summit. Ed gives me some more Diamox and I have the tingly hands and feet which the others have been experiencing and now a tingly beard too which is strange. Got up in the night to use the loo and the stars are amazing again! But trying to get to the loo was a bloody nightmare. Several injuries have happened in recent years here where people have fallen onto the rocks and in the dark its easy to see why.
