Today , Ray and I told our landlord that we were going to leave our lovely forge. Very sad about it. It has been a place of sanctuary and calm for a year.
Anyway its been a year and a month almost to the day. We moved in on 10th April 2011 and have confirmed that we will be moving out on the 12th May 2012.
We havent been here very long but have loved every moment that the countryside has to offer.
We had Emily's 18th birthday here; a fab sunshiny day that included a guest spot from the Manchester Grizzlies, we had barbies, a wonderful Christmas and boxing day with all the family coming over at one stage or another. We got snowed in and watched James tobogganing down the garden while Adam built a snowman with Ray and his daddy. I have generally felt very happy, snug and secure here. This little place has helped me stay positive when I was feeling rubbish, melancholy and sad (although copious amounts of my home made lemon drizzle cakes helped too!) We have been privileged to watch all kinds of wildlife come and go, from owls hooting in the tree just meters away to frogs trying to get in through the front door, deer grazing in the garden and an array of beautiful birds squabbling at the bird station and of course the legend that became Phil the pheasant. We have seen a whole year of seasons here with the best that the British weather could throw at us. We ve heard strange noises in the darkness inside and out and we have explored little woodland walks and cycle paths that always seemed to lead us to a nutty pub. The kids have used the forge as a place of sanctuary and rest when they needed a bit of mum time and much needed R&R and my best friends have visited for a bit of Rudgwicky magic courtesy of The Fox and The Kings Head!!!!...Yep we will keep wonderfully fond memories of our year at the little forge and would love to think that we could come back here one day. We now have 6 weeks until May 12th until then the forge is still ours and we intend to make the most of it.......
