So I'm a day late posting this but oh well. Yesterday the two of us went on an all day walking tour. We saw a lot but we walked quicker then normal all day long with out many breaks or even without much time at anyone site.
We did see the outsides of lots of buildings plus we got lots of stories and insight. For example at the beginning of wwii Berlin was a city of 4 millions people today it is a city of 3.5 million. They did not build everything back because they did not need it and in fact still don't need it all yet some 70 years later.
So most of the parks are just house that were bombed during the war and never rebuilt. The only nazi building that is still standing and was built in their style was the airforce headquarters. Allied bombing levels everything around it but never hit it. It was monumental and non descript all at the same time. We also saw the Brandenburg gate, the Soviet memorial, the Jewish quarter, museum island, checkpoint Charlie, cathedral, Berlin Wall, the train station that allowed the public to cross the east west boarder, the former Gestopo and Stasi site, the topography of terror museum, the palace of tears, the memorial to the murder Jews of Europe and others.
After that me and Trapper had a ticket to go up the dome and watch the sunset from the roof of parliament. I booked a long time ago. It did not turn out as well s I'd hoped due to clouds. Then we sat at Brandenburg gate for awhile before coming home and passing out exhausted.
