Day 5
29th July 2013
Up and down to breakfast for 08:00 then gab the bags from our rooms and check out ready to catch the public bus at 09:30. We wait for the bus and as it pulls up it looks kind of full and then we think that everyone is sat on one side as we have seats booked. No such luck as we get on board we find there are only 4 seats for all 16 of us. We get off and Bond talks to the conductor explaining that these seats have been booked for days. The conductor phones the bus station and hands the phone to Bond. It appears that a mistake has been made at the bus station and they have over booked. Our bags are off loaded and we wait for the next bus at 11:00 which we have been told will have space for us. The bus arrives about 11:30 and we all climb aboard finding plenty of space for us all. We now somewhere between a three and a half to five hour journey to Lanpang. The reason that we are not sure is Bond has said 3 and a half and the trip notes say 5 so we all place bets on how long it will take. We arrive after 3 and a half hours and get a transfer to our hotel. After checking in Jackie, Tracey and me head to the Wat Prathadlampangluang temple by private taxi. We only have an hour as it closes at 5 but we wander round. In one part of the temple the is a hole in the wall were the shadow of the temple next door shows through, however it's a little strange as the shadow is upside down. Jackie is told by some guy that there is an amazing room at the top of some steps but women aren't allowed. I take a walk up the steps and open the little wooden door into the room and wow it's a white washed room with a stone block in the middle, I take a photo to show the girls and we explore the rest of temple before climbing back onto our taxi back to the hotel. We head out to dinner to a river side restaurant and then back to the hotel to turn in for the night.
