Doug, Dad, Grandpa Goins reporting -

The setting here is beautiful. Guangzhou is called the Garden City. It sits on the Pearl River, a 3 hour drive inland from Hong Kong. Our hotel, The White Swan is on a small island in the river, as you can tell from the pictures. The architecture here is old British colonial, and Trev said it looks like New Orleans with its ante-bellum houses.

Yesterday we walked to a Chinese government health clinic on the island for Ahn's physical. He smiled his way through it, and was given a clean bill of health. Nothing seems to upset this kid, accept not getting food quickly enough when he is hungry. Teri & Trev had about two hours of paperwork yesterday afternoon in preparation for the appointments at the US Consulate on Thursday.

Teri & Trev are off on a city tour, Candy & I are babysitting. Ahn fussed a little, we put him down in the crib, and he went right to sleep after a few half-hearted cries. We think that's the first time he went straight to the crib before he was asleep.

Ahn knows his Mom & Dad, and is most secure with them, although I am pretty sure his first English words were "Grandpa".
