Ok back into it....
Day Two - We decided to venture up to Fira to wander the cobble streets and little shops and alleys. Snapping our cameras constantly as its such a beautiful town. Lizzy nearly got run over by a parade of donkeys hehe they take people up and down the steep hill from fira to the port where you can catch ferrys to the volcano etc...Then off to Perissa, one of the beaches on the east side of the island. It was ok beach, sand was abit spoiled by the cigrette butts littered around, but the water was lovely, not very salty. Safe to say myself and Lizzy were just hapy to bathe in the sun and roll into the water to cool off. You know how Grace doozz =0)
Then back to Fira to watch the sunset, which you can see from the photo here. Was a beautiful sunset, you all know its one my fav things =0) Had the best pasta in a long time for dinner....although so good and rich it was too much hehe. Our game of cut throat gin just topped the night off....it became our own little tournament on this holiday and if I remember correctly, I won this night hehe.
Day Four - we decided to catch the bus down to the bottom of the island to check out white beach. However our bus dropped us off to this quite rocky lagoon and all the passengers looked abit confused. Only to hear the voice man from a little boat saying 'red beach white beach' or 'red white beach'....so off we went and after bypassing red beach, which looked crazy packed, we choose to relax at white beach. Tiny but really kewl little beach. Was abit of an adventure getting off the boat as it couldn't dock on shore so had to strip down to waist deep water, bags over head and walk to the beach - luved it! The beach was covered with the most tan people I have ever seen in my life - honestly....it was also here that Lizzys mum got approached by a sweet yet dodgy old greek man about yours truly. He was pointing at me then to his wedding finger asking if 'I was avaliable...very nice'.....hehe he was sssoo old hehe looked like a old sailor man hehe....watch out Daren hehe. And as hard as it was for me, I had to decline....hehehe
We then missioned it to Fira on the bus and had to jump on another busy to Oia...the place where the famous pictures of white bulidings with blue roofs are taken to watch the sunset. We just missed the sunset, but saw it from the bus - the reddest sunset I have ever seen, it was amazing. As soon as the bus stopped myself and Lizzy cainned it in search of the famous 'blue things' to get fotos before light was gone. We found it in time got some mean pics. Had a lovely dinner once again in Oia. Its a gorgeous little town on the hilltop....really cute and beautiful.
Day Five - we had to leave Santorini sadly to catch a ferry to Mykonos as we were flying out from there the next day back to rainy london. This ferry was delayed about 4 hours (which officialy made this holiday the holiday of delays hehe) but luckily we had good ol' cut throat gin to save the day. By the evening we reached Mykonos and stayed at a place called Paraidse Beach, which is renowed as abit of a party place, its a campground and ALOT of Aussies and Kiwis there. Lets just say that we went to have dinner at 8pm and already the DJ was out and peeps on tables dancing and shaking their money makers....all I wanted was to eat so we escaped to a diner up the road. Mykonos is also known for one the places for gay peeps to go......and there are alot =0)
Next day was walking from the beach to our room only to meet up with one of Lizzys flatmates mates who is also a kiwi - he was also with couple of his kiwi mates and they were real hardcase telling us of their Mykonos adventures. Then back on the plane to the london rain.
Greece was awesome, LUVED the food so much - ate greek salad everyday, bread and olive oil - even inspiried me to buy a greek cookbook for home woohoo!
My only regret is that I didn't find a place where they do greek dancing, you know where they smash the plates etc....we tried to find it as you know I would totally join in =0)
Well, thats me for now, and kinda strange I am writing this from France ...which I will fill you in about soon as it has been interesting...
BIG ALOFAS TO ONE AND ALL!!!!
