**WARNING DULL TRAVELLING POST**
Wellll unfortunately I was ill when we were supposed to be doing our cooking course (typical!) and Tess still didn't feel great after the previous night so we decided to save the cooking course for when we get to Kanchanaburi. To make up for our consequent lack of meals we made a visit to our favourite store, the good ole 7-11, to stick up for the train journey ahead. Pringles, yoghurts, m&ms, ritz crackers and of course koala chocolate biscuits.
We were rather excited about our first Thai sleeper train (yes we get excited about these things these days) and it didnt fail to disappoint. There were no cabins but cool seats that turned into beds with little blue curtains for sleeping in peace :) we were very happy. Tess did get the larger bottom bunk which was humungous (like a small double bed) and I opted for the 100 baht cheaper top bunk which was rather small by comparison..and they didnt turn the lights off so they shone straight onto my bed..joy :) I didn't get much sleep that night and not sure Tess did either but we were very comfy at least! Bring on the next one!
The next morning we were hustled out of bed at 6 and told that we needed to get out..we definitely weren't in Bangkok yet so were rather confused. Fortunately someone was able to translate and tell us that we were running late and so had to catch our next train from this random little Farnham-esque station. We got some rather funny looks as we'd literally just got out of bed but after another visit to 7-11 were ready for our next 10 hour train. We were booked into the first 2 seats of the front carriage which had loads of leg room but was under that wonderful horn that the Thais sure do love to honk A LOT. Fun journey but somehow we did manage to sleep and rewatch the first season of gossip girl. Yes we've discovered that you can redownload purchases from the cloud which has been very exciting..unfabulous next!
We arrived in Surat Thani that evening and upon arriving in our hotel just wanted to collapse on our beds. However we had to drag ourselves out to buy ferry tickets which we typically found we're on the other side of the town..great!
This morning we managed to find the ferry to Koh Phangan and we're now sitting in our hostel watching 21 Jump Street while the rain pours down outside..lovely :) we're shattered though so it suits us! Missed rain too actually! Sorry this post was so dull but feel the need to document our intense travelling days! Waiting for Chris, Árni and Gunnar to arrive now and then full moon preparations can begin :)
Beach time hopefully tomorrow!
Love Flo and Tess x x x
