Gday everyone!
I here and safe in Sydney, welcomed by my relatives at the airport. It was great seeing them and I was looking forward to my 3 weeks in Oz land.
The first few days I officially unpacked both of my contents of my cases which felt good and was able to see exactly what I'd packed and hang all my clothes up in the wardrobe...normality at last, and not having to live out of a bag from one hotel to another.
A couple of my cousins talked about going for a bush walk, so I was well up for that and put my safari shorts on and sun cream on and was ready to go. We drove to The Royal National Park - Curra Moors Park in New South Wales. We'd started the walk at midday at the hottest hour of the day sweating just by stepping out of the car and not taking a foot step yet. Chris, Mark and I headed off in the bush and Mark led the way in the heat, of the jungle and stopped and said "oh, did I tell you that you need to watch out for poisonous snakes, be aware for ticks as they get everywhere and you'll need to go to hospital if you get one buried in your skin" - GREAT I though, and I having the shortest shorts on you can ever own, so I was a little nervous for sure and excited too, wanting to see these species. The terrain started with loose rocks as we made a steep descend into the overgrown paths passing the scent of eucaliptus trees and hundreds of them there were too as we caught the sea breeze with the waft of the tree essential oils pass us.
We'd walked around 6km and were close to a the cliff top with the stunning view of the ocean and the Eagle Rock (check out the photos). When we arrived here, we sheltered and rehydrated ourselves with fluid and refuelled with food and rested on the large rocks as we looked out to the horizon and god it was beautiful. After a 10 minute stop we set off again on the walk as we climbed and crossed over small creeks and got back on the beaten track to finish this 15km walk. I, as normal had a fast power walk pace and the boys were finding it hard keeping up with me!! ha, ha! At one point I though Chris was going to die on me as he'd run out of water really early and was behind by a bit, but I made sure I had him in sight (I did offer him my water too), but he was not a happy boy, so we slowed down and we were counting down on the pedometer with just 600 steps to go to get to the car park. 300 steps to go and we heard a rustle in the bush, so we stopped and watched....nothing, but we heard these great big feet thump the ground and Mark turned round and said to me that, that was a wallaby...damn I thought, I really wanted to see that and had my camera ready too! We walked on and were counting the steps every 100 steps taken to keep Chris's morale up, until we got to 100 and were counting down in 10s, bless him. I had a great walk anyway and a great experience too and saw so many plants, trees and stunning sceneries...I'm not too sure about Chris though! :-)
The next day was going to be a girlie day, so I headed to Sydney city centre with Rach, my little cousin (13) for a day of tourity things. See the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and The Royal Botanical Gardens. Rachel recomended a pancake restaurant, so we tried to find it located somewhere in The Rocks...we eventually found it via a view art galleries we popped into - 'Pancakes on The Rocks' here we come. The menu was delish....I'd ordered a very calorific Devils Delight (and very yummy it was too), but probably needed to run a half marathon to burn the calories...oh dear, as if that is going to happen...hmmm! We visited Manly Beach, but not worth the ferry over there unless you are visiting the beach or the Oceanworld Aquarium (I'd already been there, so didn't visit it again). It was a really fun day and we had a ball! :-)
Love me xx
