Now today I was slightly sunburnt. By slightly I mean very sore to touch anywhere and should not go near a beach or even out in the sun.
So guys, today I went to AoNang beach! I wore a smaller bikini in order to reduce the white bits however ended up getting extra burn marks. Before you all roll your eyes and tell me that I should have put suntan lotion on I would like I mention, I did infact have it on and it's factor 30. The sun is just hotter here you see..
I thought id be sensible(ish) and come off the beach at lunch time - found somewhere to eat that has wifi - standard backpacker behaviour and rest my skin! On the way back from lunch, a lovely thai lady asked if I wanted massage. Now I had been considering a massage for some time.. I had had the foot one in Cambodia and this kind of made me want a whole body one. I saw where they had been doing the massages and it looked legit! Oh bonus, it was happy hour?! Yes that's right I got it for half price! So I got a few extras where I had saved money! And by extras I mean a facial you rude people..
About an hour and a half later she had run out of oil and I was as shiny as tinman! I didn't really fancy the beach and considering the amount of oil on me, I'd end up taking half the beach back with me! So I started to head back and jumped in a bus/taxi/van with roof!
I was, wrongly, under the impression that when I got picked up in Krabi town, if I asked to be taken back to Krabi town then I would end up where I started. Today it didn't go to plan! The vehicle stopped and everyone else was piling out but there was this huge commotion beside where we had stopped. There was a massive group, maybe 50 or so, people dressed in white, some slicing their tongues with swords - yes swords, others carrying makeshift chairs with evil dolls in them (all covered on firecrackers) then some crazy cool going around setting them all off! Now I had no idea what was going on and this taxi man was insisting this was my stop regardless of me having no idea where I was! Turns out I was 5 minutes away from the hostel just on the other side but that was not the point. Luckily I found a pharmacists and figuring they must speak or at least understand some vague English I could get directions. That is definitely one of the most regular hazards of travelling.. Foreigners don't ever understand what you say. They watch your lips move, smile and agree but haven't got a clue. You could tell them your dog has just died and they would give you the biggest smile and go 'yes, yes' with a little laugh! Funny asians!
But yes, I witnessed some religious passing I hadn't wished to witness but adds to the experience! Cheeky banana pancake for dinner and then it was early to bed for my trip to Koh Phi Phi tomorrow..
