Up at 5:30am, the Compass Lounge was just opening, everything is starting early today as many people will be on a 12 hour round trip to Berlin.
Had a very sore left arm from the gym session 2 days ago so didnt have much sleep.
We plan to do our own thing today and visit the Rostock Zoo but having seen our boat navigate into Warnemunde we will wait until all the Berliners depart before disembarking.
I love the early mornings, the best time of the day, very few people around, beautiful sunrises and getting a good perspective on the city we are visiting as we approach.
At 9am we walked from the boat into Warnemunde itself, bought train tickets, took out about 100 Euro and took the train to Parkplatz and then caught a tram to Rostock Zoo.
Larger than Adelaide Zoo, there is an obvious split between the older East German parts of the zoo and the newer parts. Snow leopards, meerkats, cheetah, lions and the new Darwineum section were excellent.
We had the old section almost to ourselves, everyone was in the new section. Friendly people. Everyone brought their dogs along and walked them around the zoo. Have never seen that before.
After the zoo we followed the same path (tram/train) back to Warnemunde and had a look around the town itself. A big walking day.
Watched the boat sail away from port just before dark (9pm). In bed by 10 to be up ready to see us arrive back at Copenhagen tomorrow.
