Yet another early morning, we had 2b up and into two jeeps to make another long journey to the border between India and Nepal. I finally saw an elephant, in the dark!! On the way the 2nd jeep hit a child who ran out in front of them, luckily he was ok because if he they had killed or injured the boy, they would have had to drive off or the car & passengers would have been seriously attacked by the villagers – scary stuff.!! The border crossing was crazy but didn’t take too long to get our second stamps! We then traveled to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha (this is where your Buddha came from Dad) where we visited the exact place where his mother (supposedly) gave birth & the pool where she bathed afterwards. There were loads of monks there and thousands of multi colored prayer flags strung between the trees. Buddhists believe that repetitive prayer is the key and so they hang these flags, printed with prayers everywhere. Also there was a place where 10 years ago they discovered a footprint of Buddha – well it’s a kinda foot shaped hole; if you squint a bit! Tomorrow we are off to Chitwan National Park to hopefully see some wild Rhino! x Becci & Carl x
