Buenos Aires Part One
We left the nice architecture, friendly Uruguayians & blistering winds of Montevideo & headed for Buenos Aires via the romantic town of Colonia de Sacremento, a small Uruguayian Yacht harbor. We stopped here for a mid afternoon coffunch (coffee & lunch), viewed the beautiful scenary of cobbled streets, excellent restaurants & craft shops. The sunshine & ocean breeze just added to the romance to this lovely day, before setting sail to Buenos Aires.
Wow, I thought Brazil was awesome... welcome to Argentina!!
You can hop on a local bus for less than 50p to pretty much go anywhere in the city - or even bare the metro for a slight more expensive faster journey for £1. ha ha - How a Capital City can be so cheap to travel around. So many sights available to see & admire. Staying at the Hostel Rayuela - Just feels like home from home, with the lounge & kitchen perfect for chilling or hosting, plus you can find some peace & quiet to rest your heads in the bedroom. With friends staying at Milhouse Hostel (PARTY CAPITAL!!) we were never far from great atmosphere & lively scenes.
La Boca was our first sight of bright coloured houses & beautiful scenery for any tango or Latin American fan. Fay Danced with Mr Tango himself, sweeping her off her feet & made me very jealous. "Easton... think you should learn how to Dance the Tango!" (me thinks too!). We wondered & viewed the pedestrian street "Caminito" where tango artists perform. Photo central!! Lots of snapshots to be taken here.
With strong advice we booked our Tango Night - a Lesson, feast & show. Accompanied us were Linda & Owen a nice Irish couple, Northern Vicky & Irish Fiona all who we'd made friends with back in Brazil. The lesson couldn't have been better. With a funny instructor our feet started to learn the Tango steps & before we new it Fay & I were centre of attention with our slick moves & 4 left feet... I JOKE!, we picked the dance steps up quickly & did really well. Then onto to the meal, Tango show & not to forget the FREE WINE... Great Night out - we then took the hangover to the La Recoleta Cemetery the following day - Ouch! but managed to shrug it off for a Romantic Dinner at Desnivel - the best steak house in town! Now this is a City to fall in love with!
