When we first boarded the flight from San Francisco, we were given a packet containing a lovely pashmina blanket, a pair of slippers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a bottle of water and a pair of headphones, which we assumed would be for the in-flight movie. Once we were settled in and waiting at the gate, we began to explore and discovered much more than the expected movie. Each seat had it's own personal touch screen entertainment system, on which was a series of menus to choose from. There were movies, music, TV shows, news, video games and a skymap, which had up to the minute information about where we were, our speed, altitude, time to destination, temperature and time at destination. It was amazing.
An hour after boarding, we were served lunch, followed by coffee and later by hot fresh rolls for a snack. After that, there was fruit, and periodically juices and sodas were offered. Around 7 hours into the flight came our next meal followed by coffee once again. After landing in Korea, we had a 2 hour wait before our final 90 minute flight to Beijing. During that wait time at the Korea airport, Jordan was hungry (yep, you read that right) so we decided to grab a bite since it would be late by the time we arrived in Beijing.
Almost immediately after our final flight reached cruising altitude, another meal came around...a "second supper" I suppose! I think in all we ate six meals today! LOL
NOW...all that said, let me also add this final thought: NO HUMAN SHIOULD EVER HAVE TO SPEND 14 HOURS ON A PLANE IN ONE DAY!!!
Alas, we are exhausted and we have big plans for tomorrow. We will write more tomorrow evening.
