Hello hello hello!!
So yeah... Im in Cairns!
As you avid followers would recall... i flew into here a couple of days ago, on my own, whilst the other guys stayed down in a place called Makay. It was always going to be a bit of a gamble buying a flight up here but wow i don't regret it one bit! Had a pretty chilled first day, sorting stuff out etc... but yesterday, oh wow. You jokers are in for a treat...
GREAT BARRIER REEF!!
Myself and the 7 other guys and girls that came up here from Makay all headed out yesterday on a boat, 50km out to sea, to a reef... the great barrier reef!!
When we left cairns we weren't entierly conviced we'd get our monies worth as the weather was awful! Massive winds! Heavy Rain! And kind of cold! We braved out the 90 minute journey into the unknown whilst praying that we didn't sink and get attacked by sharks! We eventually tied up at the reef and boom, the sun comes out, the rain stops and the insanely clear waters with the insane coral, insane fish and insane weather made it, well... AWESOME.
The really intillegent ones amoungst you will recall me doing my PADI OpenWater qualification at school a few years ago. It was one of those things that you do for fun, that looks good but you never really expect to use it. But yesterday, oh nelly.
Because im certified i was allowed to go to all the deeper, better, more challenging spots compared to the others who had never 'dove!?' before. Jumped straight in off the boat and it all came back to me straight away! And the best part?! My ears didn't break!!
When we reached the bottom i was suddenly surrounded by the best and most insane species of fish, turtles, sting-rays and coral you could possibly imagine! It was honestly exactly something you see on TV... that you don't think actually exists. Well?! Tom has proof - it's out there!!
I did three dives in total as well as a few different snorkels around the reef and every part of that day was awesome! Topped off by a great night out last night!
Im jumping on a bus down to Airlie Beach (again) tonight to do my Whitsundays tour tomorrow. It was always the plan that us 4 would do it but, even though you can't get a refund, and the weather is forecast to be awesome, they don't want to. So, Tom's doing it alone... well, not alone, with 15 others apparently. It's basically an ex racing yacht so we have to help a lot etc... cba.
And yeah... that's all folks. I wont have any form of contact for the next few days - SO... if you don't hear from me, i haven't died. Well, i say that... it's Australia... death is always a problem.. but look, think positive... I'll just avoid the sharks.
Peace and hug and love

Dad So pleased you were finally able to make use of your diving qualification, I bet it was just a little bit more fun than your last dive in that freezing quarry! Hope you enjoy your sail around the Whitsundays, I've put that on my bucket list. Have fun xxxx
