The next morning we packed up our stuff (not that we'd really had space to unpack) and looked forward to our new cheaper room with a balcony, big fridge and actual wardrobe. Unfortunately when we arrived next door the Thai guy had somehow in the 24 hrs completely forgotten who we were and we thought we'd said goodbye to our room and deposit. He looked very confusedly at our receipt and starting muttering and laughing as he ran up the 3 flights of stairs to our room as we tried keep up. He knocked on the door of the room that we'd been shown and explained to the poor couple that he'd just checked in that he'd got mixed up and they were actually in the windowless cupboard next door.. We stood outside as they re packed and awkwardly shuffled past each other in the hallway as we moved into their room. We later found out they'd been travelling for 15 months and were so pleased when they saw the room and for the first time in months they actually unpacked all their stuff.. We felt bad for a few minutes and then unpacked!
