I left San Francisco at 11pm on Wednesday 13th to catch my greyhound to Las Vegas. I was really excited about moving on to my next destination. Unfortunately the greyhound had other ideas about when I would get there. We had a stopover at Coalinga (a personal favourite of mine on the greyhound!) which I couldn't keep my eyes open for, then transferred at Los Angeles at 7am. Was told to wait till 8am for the next bus, so gets to 7:50am and the queue is out the door, get right to the front and they tell me that the bus is full and I will need to wait for 10:40am for the next one. On the plus side I was given a breakfast voucher for a drink and meal, downside was it was a greasy greasy spoon!
So I finally got on the bus and arrived in Las Vegas at 5pm and the heat was out of this world.Baking hot sunshine and humid air, thought I would stroll the mile to the hostel with my very heavy rucksacks (being cooped up inside for 18 hrs had done strange things to me!)
I thought I wouldnt make it for a while but then finally got there after discovering it was right next to a stripper joint, got checked in by the lovely Holly and was told there would be a homecooked meal done that evening, WINNING! after only surviving on a apple, crisps and a sausage patty I needed that!
The rooms are not like a normal hostel, it was in a separate building to the reception, kitchen and common area and all the rooms were like a tiny cul de sac with a big courtyard in the middle. I was staying in a 6 bed female dorm, all the rooms were ensuite which is very handy and they were a decent size.
During tea, we watched The Hangover: Part 2 which put me in a great mood for the night ahead. Everyone was really friendly which made me feel so much better after what L.A was like. We all drank in the courtyard till 10ish then headed out to the strip in the back of a van. This was an experience in itself, 25 people in the back of a van in the baking heat. And who ends up having the sweaty (not in a good way!) english guy sitting on her?! yes me!after what seemed like forever, we got to Pure @ Caesars Palace. We all got in for free with the hostel and ladies could drink for free before midnight - Score! During the night, people flitted back and too to other places and I ended up drinking with the manager, random! We got back about 2ish then stayed up till the sun came up, me and the sweaty english guy from earlier were teaching the americans the joy of British comedy - Only Fools n Horses, Fawlty Towers...etc.
