So much has happened since my last entry so I will recount the highlights!
My mom and Vanessa visited me at the end of October for about 10 days. I had a great time showing them around France, we visited Lyon, Avignon, Arles, and Paris. I even had the chance to see to the musée d'orsay which I hadn't visited before.
The first weekend in December with my Oregon group, we had a big farm lunch in Beaujolais. I tasted the best wine I have ever had there-it was our hosts'. I also witnessed how bread was made traditionally on farms using huge ovens, and even got to take some home.
Since December, I have been working as "English language assistant". It basically means I take groups of 12 students and try to teach them English. I teach at a junior high school. I have to create my own lessons so it is very challenging, especially since the students aren't graded so they are not being on their best behavior nor trying to understand and do the work. Although I do have some students that are very talented.
The weekend after I had exams, I wanted to get away for the weekend so I headed to Amsterdam solo. I went to the Anne Frank house. It was an eye-opener to see where Anne Frank lived during her years in hiding, very heart breaking. Afterwards, I headed to the Hash, Marijuana, and Hemp Museum which was a very interesting experience. I learned all about the plant, the origins of smoking, various methods on how people have tried to smuggle it, how it grows-with signs marked that this information should not be used for criminal purposes and all about how hemp can save our planet-you can use it for fuel, clothes, and even food (there are even some plants that dont continue the THC so you wouldnt have to grow the drug to get the other good things ). I also got to see real life cannabis plant growing-dont worry it was legally growing. Afterwards, I went to the Rijksmuseum-with some of Remembrants famous paintings. Then, I saw the fabulous Van Gogh Museum which I highly recommend. Amsterdam is a beautiful city. I had a good weekend there.
To be continued...
