What a day. We all had really good sleep last night. Got up at our usual time, 11am. We went into Dupont Circle and had brunch at "circa dupont". Their lobster ravioli with goats cheese was yummy. I think we've now made a pact that we are going to try mac and cheese everywhere we go. The mac and cheese we had today didn't beat max brenner in NYC I'm afraid.
After brunch we walked down to Obamas house and took a few snaps. The sun was blazing hot and we all got so hot and bothered a long the way. We passed Washington monument while on the way to the museum of air and space. The museum was really cool and loads of airplanes hanging off the ceiling. We watched a short film narrated by Whoopie Goldberg about stars and the sun in the planetarium. After the planetarium me and Amy decided to go on a flight stimulater where I was the pilot and she was the gunner. We rolled round the cabin like hamsters in a ball, was fun but could definitely tell we would make bad pilots and gunners LOL.
We had a light snack in McD's before we left then noticed the monsoon outside! Our only option was to buy a Smithsonian poncho for our walk a head to Lincoln Memorial. We wanted to see the reflecting pool opposite the memorial but unfortunately it was under constriction so it was a long pool of mud. :(
We finally made it to the Lincoln Memorial. Was huge!!!! Very impressive! We wanted to go to Mount Vernon but it was 30miles away so that would've been a big taxi ride. Maybe next time.
I think for 1 day of sight seeing we did well. We went to the main places and even squeezed in a museum. Good stuff guys.
It's our last night here before we hit MIA.... The excitement and partying begins again. I think we all just want to hang out at the beach all day long too. We still have to think about what to do for 2 nights in between our 2 weeks in Miami. I think that's leaning towards a drive to Keywest.... Let's book the convertible jeep!
At the moment we're just hanging out at the hostel then we've decided to go have dinner at a restaurant/bar we saw last night. They've got pool tables downstairs so sounds like a good plan.
Until next time....
