Day 8
Today we left Drysdale Station about 8am and were headed to Mitchell Falls.
Started out on the slightly rough road, we drove on this for about 100km until we turned off the Gibb River Road and onto the track to Mitchell River.
Well, oh my gosh this road was way rougher, but we have been on rougher when in the Cape in 2009. We travelled about 5km from the turnoff and came to the King Edward River camping ground.
We had lunch here and there was a little swimming spot for Andy and the girls to have a dip.
After lunch we continued on the track - another 70km which took us two hours to get to the Mitchell River Plateau.
Mitchell River Plateau is located in a National Park and the payment for camping works on a honesty system by leaving your fees at the entrance.
No showers here where we are camping and only one long drop toilet (these things are so un-natural).
Did the usual camp setup and then headed down to book our helicopter flights for tomorrow.
We are all a bit excited as it's all our first time. Dad on the other hand is a little nervous as he doesn't like to fly, but the pilot assures him it'll be ok.
