We woke up early and went to Addo Elephant National Park which was a 30 min drive up the hills from PE. It was only R40 each as Garth got us in as South Africans!
We spent 6 hours driving 60km around the park and we saw loads of warthogs and loads of elephants - some very close indeed! We didn't see any lions, but we did see zebras, kudu, jackals, and lots more! It was great to see healthy elephants in the wild (unlike Thailand) and there were lots of baby elephants and warthogs! We stopped to have a sandwich for lunch and in the afternoon we saw this huge elephant which I got a great video shot of it stomping towards us before Garth couldn't handle it and drove off! The elephant crossed the road and rammed its head into a tree with huge thorns. It then used its tusks and trunk to pull up the roots and eat it which made amazing crunch sounds! We watched him for ages! Amazing!!!
We headed back to Wendy's and got ready and went to pick up Robyn and Craig but they managed to lock themselves out of the house and inside the security gate - whoops! The land lady came over and opened the outside gate but she didn't have a key to the inside. They had left the window open ajar for the cat to jump through the metal security mesh and it took Craig about 2 seconds to break it and climb in the window eeek!
We popped to the supermarket and went to someone's house who was having a Braai but Andrew Taljaard had invited us. It was pretty random but I had a nice time chatting to Andrew. At 10pm we left and dropped Robyn at home.
Craig took us to this bar in Boomtown which felt like home! There were black and white people behind AND in front of the bar with fashion!!!!! :-O
We met Andrew and Cora there and had a lovely and fun evening!!!
