We discovered last week that the travel agent had booked the wrong flights (to the airport in the north of Taiwan) and they offered us alternative flights at completely ridiculous times (including an outward flight of over 38 hours in duration). All is not lost however, as we agreed to accept the original flights if they booked high speed rail travel from Tapei in the north, right down to where we are going in the south. Given that the landing time is around 14.40 (local time, but around 1a.m. our time) we have graciously accepted the first class rail travel and hopefully we shall see a bit of the country on the way down to the south. For once, wikipedia provides a useful bit of information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_High_Speed_Rail
