So we moved to star villa this morning. Which have some pros to The Place; they offer a free taxi service by themselves to Sairee&back twice(!) a day. Which would on the other hand be about 200-300 baht/ride, so you can actually save quite a lot of money there. We had one of their private taxi drivers to take us to Hin Wong Bay beach to snorkel for while. First our rented snorkel sets leaked and after changing they weren't so much better either, but ok. Started to even consider in buying our own sets, if they cost around 1000baht/set in the Padi stores. Even though I don't even do that that much, 'cause I still wasn't much more fluent with it than I was in Bali.. Still a bit afraid of water, so it takes a while.. But at least I'd then have a set that really fits.
Anyway I coped with the one I had, and amazingly did a bit if snorkeling, even without a greater panic this time ;D Though I didn't go very deep, though. But anyway. But here there wasn't so great fish neither so great coral than there was in Bali. And I didn't see any turtles, though Niina did see one small. We snorkled for about 3 hrs (during which we burned a bit, damnit). And for the record: I didn't burn even in Bali, even though I put about the same amount of sun cream..(?!). Well, guess I too CAN burn my skin after all, even though I haven't done that in aaaages... :P Stupid, though, I should have added it more often. Well...lesson learned, now. We had a reasonable fare with our taxi back&forth ( a bit of a discount because we were woman, I think ;).
So we went back to our villa, changed clothes, had beers and asked the staff/owners to take is to Sairee to have a dinner. Today we decided to try the Barracuda, which had had many good reviews in Trip Advisor. Happy Hour there from 4-8PM; some cocktails and starters 99baht/piece. Nice! :)
Niina had tuna and had a surf&turf terderloin steak (medium). Both were very good! Not amazing (like my tuna in the 9Gems in Koh Samui), but very good. Starter bruschetta with tuna was also good. My steak was a good quality meat(!), not a bit sticky even though it was pretty cooked. Anyway, I think it's probably the best that kind of fusion food on this island. Authentic thai food then again is a different thing. Thought to try some of those tomorrow, maybe the 995 Roasted Duck. After our dinner we wandeted to the Shalimar restaurant for a one mint Shisha. Our hosts don't drive between 6-8.30PM (their dinner time), the only time of the day that they don't drive, which is reasonable. After this, back home. Tomorrow we thought maybe to visit Auek Leuw and the animal clinic there, if we have time. We have to book a hotel for the one night in Bangkok and the ferry tickets back to Samui.
