Monday 21/1 2013 and just a bit about the daycare I work in.

It was my first day at work. The girls and I are all working in the same township, so we get picked up together. Each day we get picked up around half past 8 and fetched again from work around 3 o’clock.
To begin with I met a man called Grant, who is the head of the care-projects. He showed me where in the township his office is, and told me if I wanted to bring the children sometime to the little garden there is, I could just let him now. After we talked a little about my expectations and so on, he walked me to the day-care I would be working at.
Miriam is the principle at the daycare. She is looking after the same kids as I (3-4 years old), Maria is the “teacher” who works with the babies, and Carlen is the one who looks after the oldest.
Mille is upstairs with Carlen and I’m with Miriam.
Miriam is really sweet and today she practiced the kids to count to 10. After that I read a book and then they got some porridge. After they had eaten we went outside. Mille and the older kids were also playing outside. It was so crowded! Not really enough space for everyone to really play. I played “catch-ball” (? Haha. Good name!) With a lot of the kids who each hat their own ball – and they just threw them at me sometimes! Balls everywhere! But it was fun and they were so sweet! They really liked the game and the attention. After we had played outside for around half an hour we had toilet routine, and then they got lunch which is rise with some meat. After that they had their nap. The nap is for two hours. So we have a two hours break everyday! We eat our lunch and if there are any dishes – we clean those too. When they wake up they have sandwiches which they have with them from home. We only have a half an hour from when they wake up to when we are getting picked up again. So I didn’t do so much, but I fed some of the babies.
Miriam just got a new house for the kids 3 months ago, so everything is quite new and really big compared to where the others work. But it has a lot of flaws, which is really sad cause the people who made the house promised so much, and did not at all live up to it.
The idea is now that Mille and I will paint the wall outside white first, and then paint some animals (we will get someone creative to do that!) and flowers, airplanes, a sun, some clouds and stuff like that.
