Arrived into Bangkok's new airport (BKK) approx 3.50pm my time, which is only 5 minutes later than expected, which is pretty darn good as my plane was an hour late taking off.

The heat just took my breath away. 34 degrees at 4pm!

Got through passport control and all that ok (didn't get hauled over for drug smuggling or owt, so they must have been genuine bags of sugar that the odd looking complete stranger gave me... gotcha!

I had someone at the airport take my luggage and sort me out a genuine taxi. Not only did I arrive safely at the hotel but the fare was only half what the guide books said it would be.

Hotel is ok. I'm in the grottiest area but its still at least Norwich Sport Village standard cicra 1990...

I was surprised to learn that the Thais drive on the left. Useful knowledge if I ever go kamicaze and fancy a drive here.

On the motorway there were buses and trucks full of people - sat in the open. Like just in the bed of a pickup truck or hanging onto a pole. Crazy fools!

Right, enough chit-chat. I paid 80 baht for an hour, of which half of its been spent waiting for pages to load. Grr.

I'm offski to do some authentic Thai mooching. I didn't fly 11 hours just to pay to surf the net in my sweltering hotel room.
