So we thought we'd catch the bus to Rodeo Drive, Beverley Hills to see what all the hype was about. I thought I'd wear a decent outfit given we were going to be amongst wealthy people and didn't want to look like a total tourist!!
We got on the bus and Chris spoke to the driver asking her how to get to Rodeo Drive, she said "No problem, I'll tell you when to get off", so we hopped on board with the trust that this bus driver was going to do as she said.
We were a little apprehensive as the final destination for the bus was Inglewood. To bring you all up to speed, there was a shooting in Inglewood yesterday - some guy shot and killed an Uber driver. We were cracking jokes about going to Inglewood - never thought we'd ever get anywhere near it!!
Anyway, we are all on the bus and all sorts of people were on there - majority were all dark people. There was one old man that was carrying on about his wife who had a twin but she wanted to divorce his ass, but there was no way that butch was getting his money! On and on he went about his b**** ass wife and how she shouldn't ask for no money coz she got the house - greedy b****! Then this old lady who looked about 75 told him to stop talking and cussing and being disrespectful. He says "you want me to get off the bus?" She said "Yes, you should get off the bus - you're being disrespectful". Thank God he got off the bus!! Another passenger told Mia and Jezelle "That's what happens when you take drugs, drink alcohol and drop out of school!"
FYI that 75 year old lady was actually 91 bless her! She wasn't afraid of no one!
Ok, so we were still travelling on the bus and thought - surely Beverley Hills isn't that far away from Hollywood? But I told Chris "She (the bus driver) said she'd let us know where to get off, let's just wait." Not that I had full faith in her either! She was a scary bus driver and schitzed it at someone for pressing the buzzer accidentally because she "was already late ... Damn!" So I thought best just shut up and wait!
Worst decision ever!! This bus driver took us to Rodeo Road not Rodeo Drive!!! We get off the bus without a clue as to where we were, so we asked. There was a dark lady at the bus stop who would hardly make eye contact with us - we approached her and asked her where we were, she said "You in the hood", I said "What hood?", she said "The hood, you best get your ass out of here!" On that note we all panicked and told the kids not to look at anyone or speak to anyone, we told them not to even look or talk to each other!! We were s***ting ourselves!
So now what? How do we get back? Where's the bus? How long was it going to be? What if we ended up in the wrong place again? All these questions were running through my mind - s*** scared but still laughing as I couldn't believe what was going on!
Chris said, I don't care where this bus goes we've just got to get on it!! So there we were, all 10 of us, waiting for a bus ... any bus... Just a bus!! Mia says "Mum, we need to try and blend in", I said "How Mia? There's 10 of us - we are all white, we look confused and scared - how the hell do we blend in?"
We waited at the bus stop - everyone that walked past was immediately classified a criminal! Poor b******s, I bet they were lovely people! Anyways, we asked a dark guy who was also waiting when the bus was due, he said 5 or 10 minutes. WTF ... I can't wait another 10 minutes! We could all be dead by then .. Then what? We didn't even make it to Vegas!! Funny how our minds go straight to the negative! The guy we were talking to ended up being a nice guy - I looked around and saw a sign - Wilson Fargo and I asked him "what's Wilson Fargo? Is it a grocery store?" The guy laughed and said "Wells Fargo is a bank, you all on a field trip or something?" I said "We may as well be on a field trip!!" The bus finally arrived and we all dived on to it ... Literally!
We headed back towards where we came from and got off at Wilshire which is what another dark lady told us to do and right away we noticed the difference! Everything was new and clean, the people looked normal and not like they were ready to kill us. I've never walked so freely before in my life!!
We caught another bus to get to a Rodeo Drive, that was another class all on its own. There were all the designer brands, nothing had pricing at all, like Chris said, the people that can buy stuff there don't need to know the price! Not us, the only really affordable shop was Guess.
Anyways, after a long day out we made it back home - thank God!!
