So i finally left La Paz now im in Puno in Peru! Crossed the border today on the bus. Its funny you have to get off and walk across -not that you understand that at the time you just follow everyone else going ´wheres the bus gone´?? I really liked bolivia- its another one on my list of MUST go back to! Turns out i spent 5 nights in la paz which is mad cos normally i get itchy feet after 3! Did alot of shopping mainly for clothes for the inca trail and wandering round just fills up the day! The postoffice was a nightmare and if the stuff arrives home ill be amazed!! Found out why the ladys all wear bowler hats. Apparently an english guy came over 1900 and something with a shipment of hats to seel to the men. The men didnt want them so instead he told the women that all the ladys back in europe were wearing them. And so they all wear bowler hats. Still did not manage to get a good photo of the women even tho i tried!
So thursday I did some power shopping for bits and pieces and after a huge amount of umming and arring I finally booked on up the famous mountain biking trip! Not just any mountian biking trip! This trip is a gravity assisted mountain biking trip which takes you down the ´worlds most dangerous road´! LOL ive done it now mum so its all right i survived! Was pretty kool, the road is the road to Brazil would you believe and pretty much its a one lane dirt track with its highest point at 4500ft! Thats were we started- pretty much in the clouds it was freezing! Most of the way down the edge is a shear drop and a plumet of i duno how many feet! Not only that but theres always the possibility of meeting a huge truck on the way down...the monuments and crosses all the way down are not particularly comforting! I have to say tho I really enjoyed it despite the weather and it kinda helped that alot of the time we couldnt see how high up we were. Personally i enjoyed the uphill bits as it proved to me that im not quite as unfit as i thought i was (all the other girls and a couple of lads got a ride up in the bus-hehe)! Go Me!
Anyway that pretty much knakered me out but today I had to get up early to jump on the bus to Puno. Puno is a smallish little town near lake titicaca which is where you can do trips to the floating islands! I kinda like the town already. Ive already been mobbed by little kids asking to polish my shoes and crazilly i bumped into a Bolivian guy who tried to sell me his paintings in La Paz. Pretty kool, he said he travelled here a few days ago to try and sell more of his work. I took it as a sign and bought some of his paintings this time! Probably paid some ridicuous price but I do like them -must work out the exchange rate exactly :D! So thats me the last few days!N.B Inca Kola tastes like Iron Bru!
