This was our first leg of the european leg and were a little excited. I had visited the land of lego and the little mermaid about 20 years ago. The main thing I recall from that trip was the $8 beers! Luckily my drinking habits have changed since I was 22.
We were staying in the Norrebro central district which was a community focussed multicultural hub full of cosy cafes, restaurants and a micro brewery (norrebro bryghus). This is where we enjoyed our first europen meal washed down with a couple of danish beers. The next day we stumbled across some indoor heated markets and we were estactic to discover they were handing out samples to cheese and chocolate. Needless to say, i did several circuits of the market to ensure i got ample sarvings. I tried to appear like a new customer but John thinks they were onto me.
Our trip to copenhagen wasnt all about cheese, chocolate and beer.
The next day despite the rain and chill factor, we made our way through cobblestoned streets to rosenberg castle. The setting was a little creepy but i think this had more to do with the call of the ravens and the absence of anybody else in the grounds. Our next stop took us to Christianborg castle - the royal palace. At the time i wondered how mary could tolerate the harsh danish winters, then i realised she is from Tasmania.
I do love copenhagen.. It is a city full of people without snobbery, they care for each other, enjoy good food and they care about the environment..
