Hello everyone! Welcome to the next installment of Susie and Becky's trip down under! Had a really really good week since I last wrote. Think I was in Auckland last week, but have done so much since then. We are now at the bottom of the north Island, getting the ferry across to the south island (Nelson) tommorow, takes 3hours and apparently makes you very sea sick. So, now I have to remember everything I've done since Auckland. Ok, so I think from Auckland we went to somewhere, ok I really cant remember, we've only been in each place one night so we really have done so much. Ok, I remember from Waitomo. There really is only 4 buildings in waitomo, in the whole town! One of them was the youth hostel. It was such a nice hostel though! They actually gave us quilts! Quite a lot of places don't here, and although it's not that cold it really annoys me! So we spent one night there and went to some really pretty waterfall which you can see in the pictures. You had to walk down the mud in your bikini, so you kept slipping over, then through the freezing water, past all the eels, yes there really were eels! And into the waterfall part which hurt when it hit you because it was coming from such a height! But anyway it was really fun!
Ooh, just remembered, before waitomo it was Rotorua, that town stinks!!! They have hot thermal pools and mud pools that smell really bad. We also went to a Maori evening, they are really big on Maori culture here! And so many people have it in their blood that I've spoken to! It was really educational and we had such a nice feast afterwards!
From Waitomo we went to Taupo, and before we even arrived at the hostel they took us to the drop zone and told us if we want to do a skydive then we have to do it now. So naturally I did! I'm sooo pleased that I did though, it was such an amazing experience! And you don't really have that much time to be scared that the parachute won't open because you're hurtling towards the ground at 200kph! The worst part is that I went 3rd or 4th in our plane and watching the others not just fall, but literally get sucked out of the plane before me really scared me! I wanted to back out but it was too late and he just shuffled me to the end and pushed me out! Don't worry everyone I've got the DVD and loads of photos. I got a camera man to jump out with me so he videoed the WHOLE thing, which is very unflattering but shows how cool it was. I'll try to put it on here sometime. Then the next day in Taupo I went climbing Mount Tongarero with some new friends I made whilst Becky relaxed back by Taupo lake. I had to get up at 5 IN THE MORNING! OMG it was torture! Then it was a 17km, 8-9hour walk UP a volcano. Which was tough but well worth it, my pictures don't do the scenery justice.
After Taupo it was on to River Valley, which is a hostel in the middle of absolutely nowhere, in a valley with the amazing countryside all around. It was built for white water rafting so most people did that but me and Becky want to do it somewhere else. But we weren't the only people there, there was a team of 30 rugby players aged 18-25 there on a weekend camp thing, lol, it was so funny because all the girls went crazy. It was pretty cool cos they trained with the All Blacks but still. I thought they were gunna be really big headed and stuff but they were actually really cool. I was playing drinking games with some of them and Katie, I taught them the game of Pass, and they all LOVED it, loads more came to join me, but some were so incredibly rubbish! Then all of a sudden it turned into a shirtless drinking game, not sure why, and no, sadly I didn't take any pictures so I didn't appear to be a perv, lol. Anyway, the next day we just relaxed in the morning and made our way here, to Wellington, and we had one full day here yesterday. Oh my god this city is windy!!! I would hate to live here, it was freezing yesterday! Although it's clear blue skys today. Going to the world famous te Papa museum.
