We have arrived at Patricia Lakes Bungalows for our four day stay in Jasper. The bungalows are very spacious and have everything that we need we are not right on the lake just a building away but we have lovely views of the lake. Chris went of for a walk around the lake while we were settling in he was not gone long when he came back smiling he had captured a lovely photo of an elk in the woods he said he was going to go down one track but there were Grizzly Bear warnings posted everywhere. We went into the town of Jasper and bought some supplies and checked the shops out we decided to eat out and went to whistle stop pub the food was really good when we had eaten we went back home to relax. The next morning after breakfast we went out driving we checked out the Miette hot springs there if you have no bathers you can hire them there but I found it hard getting my head around sitting in hot water with snow on the mountains around us they also charge to go in but we did not find out how much as it was not our cup of tea. We left there and went to the Athabasca Falls which were breathtaking with views of jagged cliffs and brilliant flashes of spray. We also went to the Sunwapta Falls which was also lovely to look at the name Sunwapta means turbulent river in the language of the Stoney Nation which is a perfect description for this unpredictable watercourse in the winter the falls freeze over. The next day we left after breakfast and went to look at Mount Edith Cavell named for the selfless English nurse after that we went to Maligne Lake were we saw a moose in the water quiet content eating while all the tourist were busy taking photos we had a hot chocolate in the Maligne Lake Chalet after that we went driving around and stopped to take photos of a black bear in the Forrest which after seeing another black bear on our way up to here brings our count up to three so our dreams of seeing a bear has been reached. We also went on the Jasper tramway I did not enjoy that it was one team which they said can carry 32 passengers we had 17 in ours that in my opinion was far to many so if they filled it up to maximum you would defiantly feel like sardines in a tin. The views from the top where amazing we had a beer at the top of the Whistler mountain in the restaurant there we also went to the fairmont hotel and we had lunch there and Karen and I had a Singapore sling cocktail with lunch after another full day Karen and I relaxed in back of car and nodded while we went back to the units. Today saw us driving in another direction and we went to Lake Louise taking in all this beautifull scenery along the way. We have decided to checkout all the fairmont hotels so we had lunch there and a champagne cocktail that was so nice we had 2 after that we did more sight seeing then went back to get ready to go out for dinner. Today is Karens birthday so we had a leisurely day sightseeing and we went back too the units early John and I went for a walk around the lake as we had not done so and as we were walking back down the track we saw a Grizzly Bear there were 3 other people who were also taking photos John took a few the bear was less then 100 metres from our unit. We had dinner at Pyramid Lake restaurant highly recommend this place the food was really good and the service fantastic for a small restaurant that is tooked away and not in the town the food was 5star and presentation was as well all in all we had a lovely evening and I think Karen enjoyed her birthday we did not have a late night as we were up early the next morning. As we leave Jasper I must say the units at Patrica Lakes were well worth staying at and I would like to no how they heated them as they were so warm. The surrounding areas around here have all been breathtaking and all well worth seeing we are now driving on to Canmore.
