I was never sooo glad to get anywhere; guess I thought I was Superwoman. Saturday spent a lovely lunch with my Amy, waited 4 hours at airport for an uneventful 9 hour direct flight Phoenix-London Heathrow. Customs, schlepped too much luggage to the rental car pick-up, cute Hybrid car with too few instructions including how to turn it off. Ok, of course GPs on ipad didn't work, no wiFi-never mind, I have a map. Missed turn and drove an hour out of my way. Pulled over on freeway and thanks to 2 motorcycle old gents in leathers, they set me straight. Off I went straying a bit into others lanes as judging right handed driving was a bit of a challenge. Only hit the curb 4 or 5 times, I hope the tires survived. Fast drivers giving me the finger till I figured out which is the slow lane. When I finally got off the freeway, made a wrong turn, gave up, called Pauline for help. Waited in a pub in Bromesberg till she rescued me. Interesting characters at the pub. Pauline and her house are a welcome respite for this weary traveler. Long day but charming village of Hagley and I look forward to a great week.
