Today we set off for a 7 day camping trip to Rocky Gap State Park in Western Maryland. Rocky Gap Campground is set in the Allegheny mountains with fresh mountain air and abundant wildlife.
David and I hitched up the Sunny and headed out around 2 PM. Our route plan was I-81N-I-70W and I-68W. This took us over several mountains and was a scenic and beautiful trip. There were a couple rain showers along the way. We arived around 3PM and checked in at the parks campgound registration office.
Our reserved campsite was site 1 on Ash Loop. This is the campgrounds only pet friendly electric loop. The sites are spacious and private considering most campground sites are packed in and not so spacious anymore. We prefer the larger wooded sites to get more of the feel of being out in nature rather than just a paved parking lot.
After stopping by one of the several water spigots to fill our fresh water tank we headed to site 1 and backed in with no problems. The site was level so there was no need for leveling blocks. We unhitched and started setting up our site. This is the first trip using our new Atwood powerjack and that sure made things easy! How did we get by without one???
Ginger and Faith is always excited to be camping! So we got their leashes out and took them for a walk around the campsite. We put up their xpen so they could be outside with us.
After we got everything set up, awning out and strapped down, awning lights up, rug out, chairs and table set up, and firewood unloaded it was time for dinner. Since we both been up for over 24 hours (due to work) we decided to run into LaValle to grab something to bring back to the Sunny to eat. We decided on the unhealthy choice of KFC. I guess it is good to have something "bad" every now and then. LOL.
After dinner we sat outside and enjoyed listening to the birds and watching 4 deer wondering through the camp loop.
Off to bed...
