Back to civilisation!
I arrived today with bus in Bariloche, after some very good days in El Chalten!
There were really bad Internet connection in that place, only logging in to mail e-mail took like 10min!
But, the hiking there was great!
The first day, we did a small hike to some waterfalls, and we just got back in time before it started raining and the wind got really strong.. So then we just relaxed in the hostel, seeing a film and made us some dinner!
The day after, the weather was really nice, and hiked to a viewpoint to see the famous Fitz Roy peak, it took us like 4 hours to get there, the landscape was just amazing! I felt like i was walking in a fairytale, like lord of the rings or something! Big old trees, condors (3m big vulters) sailing above us, small lakes and streams and the sharp snow covered peaks in the background!
The trails were easy to walk, the last part was a bit steep though, but after 7,5 hours walking there and back, we were pretty exhausted!
A shower, some pastasald and wine in the hostel was just what we managed before going to bed early!
The next day (Sunday) we rested our feet, and went just for a small hike! After that we went to this local Rodeo, it was guys from around Argentina and Chile that tried stay on the back of some very wild horses! It was pretty cool to experience such an event that was not touristy at all, the locals had really nice outfits and some old guys playing guitars, kids playing around and "whole lamb barbecue". I will post some photos later!
Monday, I did a hike with a guy from Holland. We walked up to a peak with a perfect panorama view of the mountains, glaciers and lakes of the national park! It was pretty steep at the end, and I was glad that I had rented some walking sticks! On our way down, we decided to not to follow the same trail back, but to go off the trail and down to another trail in the valley further down. It was a real adventure, it was cool to navigate on our own, and to walk through wild forest with no human tracks! At the end we had to cross a river, it was like 10-15m across and I had water up to my thighs! i really had to be very careful each step I took, because the stream was pretty strong and the water was ice cold straight from the glacier! But the sun was shining and even though our shoes were wet, we did not freeze. We found the other trail and after couple of hours we were back to the town again.
The last day in El Chalten, i was a bit tired after 3 nights in a 10bed dorm.. so i took my sleeping bag with me and hiked up to a nice little mountain, found a nice spot with a good view! I ate my lunch there, and the had a really good nap in the open air:-)
Then at Tuesday night it was time to spend some more hours on a bus again.. we left around 24.00 Tuesday night and arrived in Bariloche this morning! But its funny how you get used to things, the last night on the bus i actually slept very well underneath my sleeping bag in the bus seat!
Tomorrow I'm going on a Kayak Trip for the whole day, just hope the weather will be nice :-)
Ciao!
