Hi and welcome to my last blog post. Today was the final day of our trip. The day started off with an excursion to Victoria Peak. We took the Peak Tram, a funicular, that takes you up to the top of the mountain. It was a really steep climb. At that top, panoramic views of the city were abundant. Even though it was only 9:00 a.m., I couldn't help myself. I had a gelato. It tasted so good, I thought I was in Italy, not Hong Kong. Next, the tour bus took us to a little fishing village called Aberdeen. Even though it was filled with apartments, you could still feel the old world style. We left Aberdeen, and headed for Stanley Market. Stanley Market is essentially a tourist trap, where you can get a lot of junk. We just walked around and looked at all of it.
When we got back to the hotel, we were starving. We found an Indian restaurant to eat at. It tasted just like home and it was the same price. We took our stuffed bellies and went for a walk along the Harbor. On our walk we saw a bunch of tourists clamoring around a statue. It was a statue of Bruce Lee. That was kind of funny. The views from the promenade on the harbor were amazing. It was such a beautiful day. The high was around 80 degrees, and there was a nice breeze.
Tonight we went to Outback Steakhouse with our whole tour group. We had burgers and ate them in about five minutes. We didn't want to miss the Symphony of Lights. We were going to watch it last night, but it was canceled due to the Typhoon warning. The light show was really cool. The buildings along the harbor from 8:00-8:15 all change color and shoot out lasers. I'm glad we got to see it tonight.
As I mentioned above, this is my last blog post. We leave tomorrow for Los Angeles. I saw many amazing things this trip and met many interesting people. I can't pick one thing out that I liked the best, because I loved it all. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog. If you ever have a chance to go to China, take it! See you in a few days! Tony
