Chicago is a beautiful city full of beautiful buildings and they are extremely proud of their architecture. The city was rebuilt from scratch almost after a massive fire in 1871. The temperature has been between 25 and 30 most days with some rain at night which made going out at night a bit of a problem for the first 2 nights. The other nights were clear. Millennium Park is a very cool central point. They have free concerts and show movies there amongst other entertainment. Chicago seems to have quite a few concerts. While I was there, there was a Pearl Jam concert, and a Justin Timberlake with JayZ concert.
Went to the top of the Willis/Sears tower, 103 floors. It has glass ledges you can step out onto which are very cool. It only takes the elevator 60 seconds to get to the top. It was the tallest building in the world for 25 years and is still the tallest in the Western Hemisphere.
Went on the Loop train or 'L' as they call it for a joyride. The tracks are literally above the streets and run between buildings. Just a normal train ride.
My hotel is very centrally located just across the river although I did not have a river facing room. The second tallest building in Chicago, Trump Towers are just across the river as is the iconic Wrigley Building. It is on the corner with Michigan Avenue and just a few blocks from Millennium Park.
The southern loop of the hop on hop off bus takes you past the Obama family home in Chicago before he became president of the US.
