Did not do too much in NYC on the last day. It was really hot as usual so I went back to the hotel early and sat in the club room and used the free wifi. Left the hotel shortly before 4pm and walked the 8 blocks to the airport shuttle pickup site. Got to the airport around 5.30pm. All the signs for the flight said it was on time and due to take off at 8.05. Boarding was punctual.
When it was time to take off, we very slowly taxied to the runway but only took off a 9pm because of heavy traffic on the runway. 45 minutes just sitting on the Tarmac and the plane was extremely cold inside. They sell blankets for an extra $5. On the positive side, you can watch cable tv on the plane, 37 channels I think. Flight to Chicago was fine and then we went into holding pattern for 15-20 minutes because of a thunderstorm over the airport. Then a second storm arrived. We didn't have enough fuel to wait out the second storm so flew 30 minutes to Indianapolis airport to refuel. Spent almost 1 hour and could not get off plane. Then flew back to Chicago and landed around 1am instead of 9.50pm as scheduled. Chicago is 1 hour behind New York so landed at 2am New York time. Then took a train to the hotel area. Had to walk about 4 blocks to the hotel and checked in.
Woke up a little late, 9.15am. Walked around the area getting familiar with it. Went to the Chicago cultural centre for free walking tour. The centre has the worlds largest Tiffany ceiling. Had a headache so had an afternoon nap. It was raining when I woke up so I didn't get a chance to go out. It did clear up afterwards but was not feeling like going out by then.
