25th June - Venice
Caught the ferry bus over the water to Venice which takes approximately half an hour.We weren't sure about how Drum would be in a busy City but we had no choice as the weather was too hot to leave him in the van.Staff on the campsite had advised us to take his muzzle and to put it on if anyone asked. This seemed a better option as he HATES wearing it.Just to let you know, the Italians drive their boats like they do their cars.In the wide stretch of water it was a free for all! The Wacky Races at sea!!We were still afloat when we glided up the canal into Venice and we were not disappointed. It is stunning and every bit as glamorous and romantic as they say. Being a city they all have run down areas and there was some graffiti on the wallswhich seemed a shame. It was crap graffiti too. You can see where some of the buildings are sinking and starting to rot, but then Venice is sinking anyway. It was a very hot day and the alleyways between the houses were a welcome escape from the heat. The architecture is amazing and the whole city and buildings ooze an air of historic greatness. Its hard to think you are in the 21st century when you visit Venice.Everyone travels by boat, large or small or Gondola if you can afford it, (€100 for 45 minutes). It was so nice to be free of cars and scooters. All deliveries are made on foot and trolley and it's a postman's nightmare having to find the right address. It is also very expensive -€5.20 for a draught beer and more for coffee. You get a bowl of crisps with it though! We visited the Vivaldi orchestra museum which was just rounded everything off.The instruments were stunning, behind glass of course, and his music was playing sweetly in the background.Drum was fabulous and of course got all the attention. We were sitting in a square with some Asians opposite who were fascinated to the point of rapture with Drum.We took him over to them and theyspoke a little English. The man asked if he was a Labrador. Then the lady asked what speciality was he.We were confused a little until Sue piped up, " erm, I don't know, Sweet and Sour?"Drum was not amused!!We walked around the city for hours, taking in the glory of it all before we headed back on the boat.To do it justice, you need longer than a day there. We loved Venice!! Top tip: latch onto the end of a guided tour keeping a discreet distance but be sure you have a map when they all piss off on Gondolas!!

Got on a floating fish today, it was ok until I tried to get off.The b****es were filming me so I had to look good.I walked and walked and walked all day and only got a bit of pizza for it. Had an ice cream cone too which was very nice.No green bits to piss or s*** on so I held it and held it and held it then…… did a fabulous zig zag piss in the square in front of all the people eating their lunch. The b****es tried to hide me behind their map but they all saw everything. I almost got a standing ovation. "How's that for Venetian street art"!The b****es then bought me a Bandana to wear…B******s.I was a good boy up until some Asians tried to eat me. " Lets go, I pulled on the lead, " the insurance will never cover it"! All quite boring and pointless really. I need a s***.

One of the Malaysians cooking pots is still soaking in the washing area two days later. No sign of the Malaysians though and their tents have gone.Oh dear.
