I am sitting in the drawing room before the guests show up for pre dinner drinks and conversation. The fire is glowing in the fireplace and what looks to be the last few drops of rain are meandering down the window panes. The five of us decided to spend the day here rather than drive into Cork and sight see. How many times will there be when our whole family can relax together in such a wonderful spot and really experience being one of the clan? We spent most of the afternoon walking the "short trail" which took us three hours as we got a wee bit turned around. It rained lightly off and on as we traversed the bends and hills side by side with the cows and birds. The peacefulness was only occasionally interrupted by farming tractors passing by which caused us to huddle on the side of the "road" for them to pass. To declare the surroundings a display of everything green is an understatement. Today is Mike's and my forty second anniversary and we are about to all share a chilled bottle of Prosecco delivered to us from "the kids". We also just found out that we are the only ones here for dinner this evening which will be a perfect ending to our day in the Irish countryside. Yes, the Irish eyes are indeed smiling upon us.
