So after 22 hours of travelling I successfully made it to Hong Kong.
The overnight sleeper train was more fun this time as I got talking to a 50 year old woman from Singapore called Joyce.
She was very friendly, translated what others were saying to me and treated me like her son. Within moments of sitting down she was interested to see my travelling photos, offered me some winter melon, dried carrots, told me where the hot water was and made sure I was comfortable for the journey.
Her kindness was extended when she bought me breakfast when we arrived in Shenzhen, took some photos for me and pointed me in the right direction to get to Hong Kong.
Meeting people like this is what makes China & this world so special. Her kindness overwhelmed me. I know their earnings aren't as good in the western world yet she still wouldn't let me pay for breakfast.
After parting our ways, I successfully managed to find my way to the Singh
Guesthouse on Nathan Road (yes I did book it because of the road name!!)
I don't think I should take this approach in future. The Guesthouse is clean enough, but everything is in such a confined space. I've been in bigger bathrooms than these 4 bed dorms & the toilet, shower & sink is all within a 1x2 metre area. I can literally have a S**t, shower and shave at the same time!!!
In addition there are no security lockers therefore I'll need to carry my valuables with me throughout my stay in HK.
Despite these issues, I can't really complain for £10 per night. Hong Kong is an expensive City. I'm about to take a walk & find out!

Mum How lovely of Joyce to do that for you!! she's truely an Angel sent from above .. Bless her for looking after 'My Baby'!! .. It's a bit scary - no security lockers!!. . does that mean you have to sleep with your rook sack in bed with you?!! I understand it is just a 2 night stay there so hope the next guest house will be more comfortable .. x x x x
cath So you have entered another country, fab. Your room might be small but at least its peaceful. I'm in a huge room at mo with about 50 screamin kids in a play barn! And remember Nathan, size isn't everything :)
