Holy Krishna, the past 2 days in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, have been the most up and down that I have ever experienced. At the moment I've had 8 hours sleep in the past 3 days.. which makes a difference, but the events of the past few days have been so fast and wild its quite literally unreal.
To summarize, I have been elephant back riding, white water rafting, negotiating a peace treaty and touched up on a motorbike. Granted that some of these need explaining.. an elephant is a large grey mythical creature similar to its Mordor cousin the olyphant and I got to ride one, less tusks but still the same buzz. White water rafting is pretty self explanatory. The last two take some explaining.. and to start with the more pressing matter, the 'Yamaha Yank' incident was basically the most freaked out I have ever been in my life. Chiang Mai old town is a relatively simple place to both get lost and meet queer thai-men who want to pretend that they are driving you back to your hostel on their silly yamaha bike, but then betray your drunken trust and try and attempt to give you hand-to-d*** action whilst driving. Very disturbing, the long of the short of it is.. he grabbed I jumped off and I didn't really sleep well that night. Interesting right! In regards to these negotiations... it is incredibly easy to meet nice people here (who won't try and perform homoerotic acts on you at dangerous moped speeds) and me and my group of friends met this Thai guy who runs a few local bars.. he got in a spot of language difficulties with some Brit... something about a bottle... end of it is... we sorted it out and was bought 4 buckets of Sam Song (whiskey/coke cocktail) By sort it out i don't mean anything violent by the way just literally sat them down and made them talk... simples.
Anyway, its been a bloody interesting 2 days. Still have one more day in Chiang Mai, then I'm going to head north with some Jewish Amigos i met and hit up Pai, then down South to the Islands. Its quite difficult to leave this place when you are here though. Julie Hostel in the oldtown is quite possibly the best hostel i've ever stayed in.. apart from having the room above the kitchen so 8am wake up call after a 6am finish.... amazing. Met some really god damn amazing hombres, some Spainards... one called enrique iglesias and the other Antonio Banderas, fajita y toco for short. If i hadn't been touched up... i think this place would have been paradise.
Anyway as they say in my native Spain,
Caminar Mamada, adiós perras
