The Amateur Adventurer
Alaska or bust!! But first more playing in Cali! Uncle Rick is fortunate enough to live on a river with his own private dock. We had the wonderful opportunity of enjoying the benefits of this fortune. Early in the morning Rick took out on the boat for a scenic tour of the area which was quite enjoyable. Josh and I then took the canoe out for a spin while Rick prepared for his flight.
For the couple hours before we took off Rick once again took us out on his boat. This time we went wake boarding (for some it was more of an attempt). It seems that once a year I get to go wake boarding and this was my chance. I love it!
With a couple of carry on bags we arrived at San Fransico International airport ready to hit Alaska. One determining factor stood in the way of us doing such: airline tickets. Uncle Rick, a pilot for United Airlines, reserved a stand by spot for us on his flight to Anchorage based on space availability. Things worked out great for us: we had the best seats on the airplane in my opinion. We were right next to the exit with no seats in front of us. We had all the leg room in the world. Once we landed we got some pictures of us in the cockpit with Rick.
In Anchorage we said our goodbyes to Rick and said hello to our wonderful hostess and vacation planner in Anchorage, Stephanie. Stephanie is a friend of Josh's that has been working on a train in Alaska for the summer and she has an excellent vacation planned for us!
