Stuey's Travel
I have been looking forward to this Sunday for 6 months. Today we all come together from all points of the compass to celebrate the start of the OFC Alps Ride 2017.
This morning I woke early again so I could devour breakfast and start packing up plus watch the Crows v Collingwood game from 7:20am.
Fortunately the hotel WiFi was performing poorly so I couldn't really watch the footy and whats more, the Crows were just so bad.
That gave me plenty of time to get my bag packed, put the bike away and prepare to leave Aix Les Bains for the drive north to Thonons Les Bains.
Fairly mundane trip, quick at first whilst on the motorway at 130kmh, but that fell away fast once I left the motorway and negotiated the lake side single lane road towards my destination. Fighting against farm vehicles and Sunday drivers made the journey 30mins longer than it should have been. Finally got to our hotel only to find the guys had scarpered....out for a ride.
I dropped my gear off and then drove off to Geneva to dispense with my Citroen C3 Picasso (bloody good car). I found Ian at the airport fairly promptly, with Martin, Kev and Peter. We had to wait a couple of hours for Johan.
Great opportunity to chew the fat and have a beer!
Johan arrived and we jumped into Ian's van and back down the Thonon road.
A few beers, a few reds and then dinner at a restaurant on the lakefront.......plus a nip of Genepi at the conclusion made for a good night.Plenty of stories, exaggeration and a few porkies!
Bring on tomorrow, 106kms with 3296m of vertical ascent!.......a big first day.
Sleep tight!
